Amazing Hawaii

Hawaii  is a state in the Western United States, located in the Pacific Ocean about 2,000 miles (3,200 km) from the U.S. mainland. It is the only U.S. state outside North America, the only state that is an archipelago, and the only state in the tropics.

Hawaii comprises nearly the entire Hawaiian archipelago, 137 volcanic islands spanning 1,500 miles (2,400 km) that are physiographically and ethnologically part of the Polynesian subregion of Oceania. The state’s ocean coastline is consequently the fourth-longest in the U.S., at about 750 miles (1,210 km). The eight main islands, from northwest to southeast, are Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and Hawaiʻi—the last of these, after which the state is named, is often called the “Big Island” or “Hawaii Island” to avoid confusion with the state or archipelago. The uninhabited Northwestern Hawaiian Islands make up most of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, the United States’ largest protected area and the fourth-largest in the world.

HONOLULU

Honolulu  is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Hawaii, which is in the Pacific Ocean. It is an unincorporated county seat of the consolidated City and County of Honolulu, situated along the southeast coast of the island of Oʻahu,  and is the westernmost and southernmost major U.S. city. Honolulu is Hawaii’s main gateway to the world. It is also a major hub for business, finance, hospitality, and military defense in both the state and Oceania. The city is characterized by a mix of various Asian, Western, and Pacific cultures, reflected in its diverse demography, cuisine, and traditions.

HAWAII

Hawaii is an archipelago consisting of 8 main larger islands: Hawaii or the Big Island, Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Niihau and Kahoolawe. A large number of smaller islands also belong to Hawaii.

The beaches in Hawaii leave you speechless. Soft fine white sand, pleasant waters of the Pacific, palm trees instead of umbrellas and, often, a view of incredible nature. Most of the beaches on the island of Oahu are wild – there are no cafes, sunbeds, umbrellas. Just palm trees and the soothing sound of the waves.

North Shore

The North Shore is known for its huge waves, making it a surfer’s paradise. In the winter months, the waves reach 12 meters in height. Surfing competitions are held on some beaches. Waimea Bay – a famous beach for the best surfers because of the biggest waves in the winter months. In summer you can swim, because the waves are much smaller, but they are still the biggest waves. One interesting thing about this beach is that it is one of the locations where the series Lost was filmed. Sunset Beach – this beach is also popular among surfers. The beach is long and incredibly beautiful.

Windward Coast (east side of the island)

Lanikai Beach Lani Kai means Paradise Ocean. The turquoise color of the ocean, the fine white sand, the calm ocean and the view of the mountains. Waimanalo Beach Park – The water and sand are similar to Lanikai Beach, but there are plenty of trees and shade.

South Shore Waikiki Beach – world famous beach. Due to the location of the beach and numerous hotels on the coast, there are by far the most people here. It is located in Honolulu and consists of several smaller beaches. I suggest Ala Moana Beach Park for sunset. Hanauma Bay – a very popular snorkeling beach. Here you can see many types of fish, marine animals and corals.
